Islamabad, Oct 18: Rupee Surges Significantly Against US dollar, Closing Out a Quiet Week with Strong Gains. After starting the week at 278 in the interbank market, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) saw modest advances versus the US dollar (USD).
It closed higher against the greenback after being positive all day. During today’s session, it recorded gains against the majority of the other major currencies. Before closing at the 277 level, the interbank rate remained at that level for the majority of the day. Several currency counters’ open market rates stayed between 278 and 280 today.
After rising 17 paisas versus the US dollar today, the PKR gained 0.06 percent to close at 277.6.To date, the rupee has gained 0.26 percent on a fiscal year basis.In the interbank market today, the PKR was up versus the majority of the other major currencies.
It increased by 29 paisas versus the Canadian dollar (CAD), five paisas versus the Saudi riyal (SAR), and four paisas versus the UAE dirham (AED). In the meantime, it lost Rs. 1.43 versus the British Pound (GBP) and 86 paisas versus the Australian Dollar (AUD).
In today’s interbank currency market, it increased by 50 paisas in relation to the euro (EUR).
